You have one more dir level than you need. But that is not a problem.
I unzip to the root. That gives me a directory called MOZILLA. I
would then chance the name to MOZ178.

The only reference to Mozilla in config.sys should be:
SET MOZILLA_HOME=H:\MOZPROFILES
SET MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH=H:\MOZPROFILES\PLUGINS
or some such.
Remove any other references to Mozilla.
The safest thing to do with the DLLs is put them in X:\MOZ178. Back
when they were changing with every version of Mozilla it was the only
thing to do with them to have the correct DLL available for each
version of Mozilla if you wanted several versions of Mozilla on the HDD.
