Subject: SCOUG-Help: VHDO0437.SYS

My Thinkpad 600E no longer loads the file:

BASEDEV=VHDO0437.SYS BUS=1150000

As a result, the soundcard drivers do not load. This is not a big problem,
as I can rem out the BASEDEV and drivers statements. But I am curious as
to what this file does and what is the implication of it suddenly no
longer loading.

I am using OS/2 Warp 4, FP 15.

I went and restored backups from as long as one year ago when I know
everything worked, but the same error message: "Drive device was not
installed" occurred.

I tried installing a fresh copy of eCS 1.2, but got the same error
message.

Thinking there might be an IRQ conflict, I removed my PCMCIA cards (lan
adapter and wireless adapter).

I was thinking there must be a hardware problem, but Windows loads and
runs fine, including sound and wireless.

My son is planning to take this computer to college this summer, so I want
to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with it.

Thanks,
Sandy
