Subject: SCOUG-Help: USB not working, IBM Netfinity 4000R

Content Type: text/plain

I have a recently acquired IBM Netfinity 4000R server on which I have
installed eCS 1.2. IBM's documentation states that it has USB, and
there are two USB ports on the rear panel. Hardware Manager shows the
USB controller. Craig hart's PCI bus sniffer shows:

Vendor 8086h Intel Corporation
Device 7112h 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4/E/M USB Controller
Command 0005h (I/O Access, BusMaster)
Status 0280h (Supports Back-To-Back Trans., Medium Timing)
Revision 01h, Header Type 00h, Bus Latency 60h
Self test 00h (Self test not supported)
PCI Class Serial, type USB (UHCI)
Address 4 is an I/O Port: 00003000h
System IRQ (disabled), INT # D

I have started up the USB Resource Manager and watched as I plug in
various devices, but it says: No USB Devices connected! I have tried the
following in both ports:

Kingston 128MB USB key
Belkin Media reader/Writer
Logitech USB camera
Toshiba (TEAC) USB diskette drive
Sony USB diskette drive

I suspect that the problem is the disabled IRQ, but I can't find
anything in the BIOS screens that would let me turn it on.

Would Veit's SPCIIRQ help here?

I would like to get USB working as this thing has no diskette drive, and
a USB key would be handy!

Thanks!

Tom Brown
