I see. And just how much are my in-laws paying you to say that?

As normal as ever. It's comforting to know that I'll continue to be
challenged with new surprises.
Did I mention that the $35,000 house damage is covered by insurance
which I don't want to collect? The State Farm agent told me they
_would_ pay for the damage but they then would collect restitution from
those who did the damage -- the in-laws. And since I'm trying
especially hard right now to keep all the in-laws happy I would be
supplying that reimbursement. Along with their legal fees *plus* the
State Farm legal fees. The agent delicately suggested that if I left
State Farm alone and paid for the repairs myself, I could then write it
off my taxes as a loss and the IRS would give me about 25% of it back.
I liked insurance back in New York better. There weren't any insurance
agents. Your insurance was Vinny down at the barber shop. He always
took care of these problems for you, for a fee of course.
