Subject: SCOUG-Help: WarpIn update failure

Content Type: text/plain

I had a WarpIn 1.02 installed in my eCS 1.2 partition,
so I'm guessing this must have been the default
version put in by the eCS installer. When I tried to
run it recently, it gave up an error saying that the
install path was invalid, even though this was
patently NOT the case. Before doing anything else, I
noticed that the executable --for some unknown reason
-- was in its directory as just plain Warpin, not
Warpin.Exe. So I made that change. Then it told me
to run the executable and re-register it. O.K. I
think this corrected the path info, but I'm not sure,
because I had to go into the folder to run the program
object. Along the way, it asked me if I wanted to
re-create the desktop objects. O.K. again, except
that it never did, through repeated attempts. But at
this point I could at least bring up the program.

Maybe I should have stopped there, but this was an old
version. So, I tried to install the current 1.08.
But that broke things again. (In the past, I
distinctly recall installing a later WarpIn version
over top of a previous one, with no uninstall
required, and no problems . . . but maybe that's
wrong.) Anyway, now I'm briefly seeing the WarpIn
logo, immediately followed by an error box:

WarpIn Internal Error. Exception in Main Thread.

What should I do to remedy this ? Uninstall WarpIn
completely, via UniMaint, then reinstall it from
scratch ? The one thing I'd like to be sure of is
saving the WarpIn database, so what's already in there
isn't lost.

Incidentally -- no Help List traffic has come over the
wire for about a week now. Hope this doesn't mean
we're back to server problems.
