I posted a help request on c.o.o.apps a couple of days ago with regard
to WarpVision, and one of the replies said that VOICE News had announced
a GA release of WarpVision.
I went there, clicked on the item, read the information in the box, and
downloaded new WarpVision (the .WPI file) and LIBC06 files. After
deleting the VIDEO2.INI file, I installed the new stuff.
Now I have a desktop icon (which the .ZIP files I've downloaded in the
past didn't give me). I opened WV, opened the Playlist, copied my five
samples over to it, and began trying them out.
I played three .WMV files; the audio ran behind the video, and the video
would break up, then recover, but they all played thru to the end.
A .MPEG file played to the end, but didn't terminate correctly. All I
could manage to do was power off my PC and restart it (the Dell doesn't
have a reset button like the Indelible Blue system does).
This is MUCH better than any results I've been able to obtain previously.
Note: I'm using the WarpOverlay tool, and the Wincodecs_New, which
require Odin. I also have the WV plugin installed under SeaMonkey, but
it is not working for me. The browser just goes to sleep, and I have to
close it.
If you've tried WV before and given up, or if you've never tried it, you
may want to give the GA version a try!
Colin
P.S.: Two of the videos I tried are from DrivingTelevision.CA, which is
a Canadian auto TV show site. Their April 23 show had videos of the
Porsche Cayman and the BMW M5.
