Actually it is getting better.  I used to loose threading in all folders   
whenever I compacted.  Now compacting doesn't necessarily loose   
threading.  Now it is tho an index file is randomly lost.  
 
There are hot keys to open and close threads, but no hot key to create   
threading, that I know of.  Just several steps under "view".
