Paul Ratcliffe has an app, dtape, that supports this

For a general discussion of what you are trying to do, do a Google Groups
search for
dtape (vinyl,records) group:comp.os.os2.*
You probably will need some sort of pre-amp.
The app Bob mentioned is also dicussed somewhat
audacity group:comp.os.os2.*
although you have to filter the advocacy posts. ;-)
There's also gamofile for cleaning up noise and such.
