Bob,
I'm using the ASUS ATX model N=BA P5P800 SE motherboard with good result=
s.
I previously used all SCSI's on my system, but I've now switched over to=
SATA with
better results. I was using two (2) SCSI Ultra 160 drives, both 73GB. I =
now using:
1. Seagate SATA hard drive, 320 GB, Model N=BA ST3320620AS, which is a =
SATA 3.0 version
2. Western Digital SATA hard drive, 250 GB, Model N=BA
WD2500JS-00MHB0
My motherboard does not support the 300 Ms burst rate maximum speed, onl=
y 150 Ms.
Nevertheless, both SATA drives are faster overall, compared to the SCSI =
drives. I used
the DISKIO utility from Kai Uwe Rommel to make the comparisons.
I use Dani's drivers for the SATA drives (version 1.7.5). They work just=
fine.
Bottomline: The SATA drives are far less expensive than the SCSI. They o=
utperform
the 160 Ultra SCSI and I can get larger drives much cheaper.
Hope this helps.
