Great thought--especially since I have one from the 2005 Warpstock.

Unfortunately, when I got to the store they explained that the words
"Design your own system" that appeared on the screen of the monitor
in the ad meant that they did not have one in stock and that it was
available only on special order.

The specs they offered are:
Compaq Presario SR1730T
Integrated 7.1 sound
160GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Intel Pentium 4 2.93GHz
DVD+/-R/RW Drive - Double Layer
512MB Memory (1x512MB)
2 USB 2.0, 1 Firewire, + Front Audio Ports
Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress HyperMemory

Not very illuminating :( I never thought I would say this; but I'm
really beginning to miss Fry's. Doesn't seem to be anything
comparable in this region.

Nope. Still don't :(

Well, despite not being able to try the demo disk, I decided to
gamble and ordered the "Pig in a Poke"--mostly because of the Compaq
name and the Intel processor--since I was burned by the previous
non-Intel one. I'm hopeful that I can patch together something with
it that will work. At the very least I'll probably have to add a real
modem. I have 14 days in which to decide to keep it or to return
the whole "Pig".

Thanks for the good input.
