Except for that "gotcha" Tony mentioned, in the case
of XP SP2. But if Ray decides to drop back to W2K, it
shouldn't be an issue. The main arguments against
that option come down to these, I think: 1) There
would be multiple Service Packs and a barge full of
security fixes to apply, & 2) It would probably negate
the value of whatever hidden "Recovery Image" (restore
to system defaults, as delivered, in case of a
disaster) that the mfr. provided for that laptop,
which would be geared to XP. Of course, I suppose one
could image that as well before proceeding.
I don't recall Ray's "bring with" list, but I'd
recommend a decent size USB HDD in an external drive
shell, plus power adapter & cables.
