No, it's the elegant way, right? ;-)

Well, no matter what I did, I could not get pmdf to open port 2 in the 
770x. 
What did I do? 
- Using ps2, changed the port to com2.  Had to turn off the internal modem 
in ps2 to avoid an irq conflict. ps2 shows IR enabled at com2.But pmdf 
"connect" gives: 
Opening com2 
Error 21 Opening COM2 
- The IR drivers had been loading.  I tried to add correct arguments in 
config.sys to the IR drivers.  They wouldn't load, and I received the same 
error. (I then remmed them out) 
Changing com port configuration in pmdf back from com2 to com1, allows the 
port to open.
