Subject: SCOUG-Help: Remote control of PC

Content Type: text/plain

It all started with "I lost my Quicken files, a paid expert tried to
help, now I have nothing." Well, I was able to find a lot of Quicken
files and mostly got her bookkeeping system running again.

But I couldn't leave well enough alone. She mentioned she had had a
virus, and had to take the machine to get it cleaned. Soooooo, in an
attempt to to somewhat increase security and as what I consider an
upgrade, I installed Mozilla suite. I imported mail and bookmarks and
generally got her the functionality she had with IE/OL.

And then my phone started ringing. "This damn Mozilla, this that and
the other thing stopped working." Any of this sound familiar so far?
She is 70 miles away. I think the only way I can get any piece, and
still remain friends, is to operate her machine from mine. I have
nibbled at this subject, but not enough to be useful. Her OS is some
flavor of XP. And, she is rural and on dial-up. I don't need a
learning curve, I need a cookbook; fast.

Can, will, anyone bail me out? I'll bring enough hardware to a
meeting to do a demo if anyone else is interested.

Ray
