Mark,
I've been watching this thread with interest. I keep thinking I'm going
to get a laptop, and wondering what I should be looking at. A Thinkpad
T4x has seemed like a good bet, and Jerry Rash seems to know how to get
at least some Dells working well.

How did you decide on the Z60t model, which is new to me?

And how did you identify the Broadcom chipset? Jerry took a guess that
the built-in NIC in my Dell Dimension 8400 is a Broadcom, and I think I
finally verified that via WinXP. I stuck an Intel PRO/1000 MT in for
use with eCS, and that works fine, so I haven't gone back to try to get
the built-in NIC to work. It's still on my "to do before I die" list,
and at my age, I shouldn't wait too long!
Thanks,
Colin
