Subject: SCOUG-Help: Refresher Course on File Properties?

Content Type: text/plain

I have a few *.WMV files which I use to test WarpVision. I'm wondering
how to set things up so that I can click on such a file, and have
WarpVision start.

I tried opening the Properties on one of the files, named
04WhatsNew318.wmv, and on the "Type" page, adding "Win Movie" as a New
Type. As soon as I did that, the WarpVision icon replaced a "Plain
Text" icon in my folder. I thought, "This is too easy."

Then, I clicked on the file's Icon, and reality set in. I got an error
box that was titled "Workplace Shell", and had the message:

Cannot run WarpVision GUI. Make sure the file is an OS/2 or DOS program
or that it is associated with one. There might not be enough memory
available to run the program.

There are "OK", "Cancel", and "Help" boxes at the bottom. The "Help"
tells me how to associate the data file to a program object, but the
steps don't seem to help (me).

In the Properties for the Program Object, I had "AVI" in the "Current
Types", and after I had created "Win Movie" above, it was available in
the "Available Types", so I highlighted it and pressed the "Add" button.

What is missing?
Thanks,
Colin
