Ebay seems like a good bet for models older than the
current ones, which it sounds like it may be what you
are looking for. I've started to research MBs for the
next iteration of my tower system. I have always had
a preference for ASUS, but what I'm seeing now in
current models is nothing much that is just basic.
They mostly have everything built-in now: Lan, Video,
etc. etc. It is all going PCI-Express now too, no
more AGP. (I already happen to have a good AGP card
I'd like to use.) But what if you still want to
choose all your own (separate) components ? All this
stuff can probably still be turned off in the BIOS and
replaced, assuming you still have the slots, but then
you are still paying for the built-ins that won't be
used. I don't know if MSI or the other name players
are doing the same thing, but the industry as a whole
is prone to follow the prevailing trend.
