Subject: SCOUG-Help: Trouble with ViewSonic Monitor

Content Type: text/plain

My ViewSonic E773 (a 17" CRT unit) monitor, which was manufactured in
April, 2000, has gone dark twice in the last two days, and I've also
noticed some flicker on the screen. I've checked the power plug and the
video cable connections; both seem secure.

Is it dying?

What would be a good replacement? Should I look at 16:9 monitors, or
stick with 4:3? Flat panel or CRT (and are there other choices)?

SNAP Graphics shows that I have a Matrox MGA-G400 "chip set" with 32MB.
Should I be thinking about upgrading the video card as well?

(This monitor is used on my Indelible Blue PC that also dates from
sometime in the year 2000. I also have a Dell PC from January, 2005; it
uses a Dell 19" 4:3 flat panel monitor.)
Thanks,
Colin
