The closer you are to the needle, the closer you are to the actual
info on the disk. Output of the preamp should be compatible with line-in.

There are several apps dedicated to digitizing records; rip,
cleanup... But, the only ones I know of are Windows. Which is one
reason I keep a copy of Windows.
