Subject: SCOUG-Help: Delay while booting eCS...?

Content Type: text/plain

Steven,

Probably not related, but:

Could you remind me as to what is the meaning of a
delay issue that I think you dealt with once or twice
at a Help Desk: a somewhat extended pause right after
you see the lines for Netbind or for Cmd.Exe. (I
think those are the two most common points.) I recall
your altering something or other that cut down on this
lag noticeably. For the record, I have set nothing to
load at Startup -- unless it is there as an
installation default -- and don't even think I have a
Startup folder. (No, scratch that, I do. It has CAD
Popup, MMOS2 Updater, and eCenter in it, which seem
like they must be default items to me.)

[Some of this lag may have something to do with the 2
built-in Nics on the Shuttle. I think at one point
you had one of them being ignored, but then you put
put back the Inits for it in Config.Sys, even though
the gigabit Nic still can't be used without
considerable additional finagling. It's not like the
Dark Side situation, where Win could care less which
Nic port has the ethernet cable plugged in, at any
given moment.]
