Subject: SCOUG-Help: ASUS Motherboards

Content Type: text/plain

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone have experience with ASUS motherboards (Tony in particular)? I bought
an ASUS P5P800 SE board, because (using advance research) I thought it had LAN
and audio chipsets that would work with available OS/2 drivers. Turns out that the
uniaudio driver works, but not the Intel Pro 1000 network card (NIC) driver.

Basically, I had to back to an add on NIC. My question is whether or not anyone has
observed the following oddball behavior from an ASUS board:

1. If you disable the onboard LAN, the bootup stalls at the loading of the
uniaudio sound drivers

2. If you install an addon NIC, but do not disable the onboard LAN, then a
trap occurs during the last portions of the bootup (just before the screen would start
setting up the desktop)

Anyone observed either or both of the above? Thanks for any comments.
HCM
