I don't know about the specifics of the software she is using,
but the list would send to the people who object to their
address being known using 'blind copies', or 'bcc's.
These addresses will not show up in the 'Cc: ' header of the mail.
Dig around in the documentation for the software this person is
using, for the shortcut/'mailing list'/'alias', and 'blind copy',
and put the info together.
