Subject: SCOUG-Help: Interent telephone Service...?

Content Type: text/plain

Scoug,

Maybe some of you locals have had to face the same question. In the
change over from Comcast to Time-Warner, should I change Comcast
telephone service (VOIP?) to Time-Warner Digital telephone service?

The pros include a small deduction in the monthly bill because I would
have Internet, digital TV and telephone with the same carrier. The cons
include the need for external power for the digital telephone modem and
a place to put it in the house. We experience about three power failures
a year. The last power failure we had in Costa Mesa was 10 days ago and
lasted almost 12 hours. The digital modem has a battery backup that
lasts about six hours. Generally I like to spread my services among
several providers so that, when one goes down, I still have the others.
I would appreciate hearing any ideas on this subject from others in the
group.

Martin
