I have always resisted Time-Warner's pitches on digital phone service
due to the power requirement. I was unaware that their phone had a
battery backup, but if I had their service, I would want a UPS that
lasted longer than 6 hours, perhaps 24-48 hours at the low current drain
that the phone probably requires. AT&T has humongous battery rooms and
generators that supply the battery voltage to your POTS phone.

The features offered by TWC are quite attractive, however. AT&T is also
installing fiber in our neighborhood up to a node within 3000' of the
home. They plan to offer TV and other services. When the contractor was
replacing some junction boxes on our block recently, they bolixed the
job and many phones were out for 48 hours. TWC has been out for up to a
day, but not recently.

Sure glad I have a cell phone as backup!
