Subject: SCOUG-Help: DVD burner under OS/2

Content Type: text/plain

I have gotten away from OS/2 for a couple of years, and I've forgotten a lot
(old age tends to exacerbate that problem).
I have a computer that can boot either WinXP Pro or OS/2, and I boot
OS/2 (fp 15) occasionally to use a home-grown application. There are
some Fat32 partitions that can be accessed by either operating system.

Until a few days ago, the computer had a ide DVD reader and a scsi CD
burner.
Frankly, I'm not certain if I ever used either device under OS/2 for
anything other than
reading directories or booting DFSee or Partition Magic, but I seem to
recall that I did
look at jpg photos on CD's using those devices.

Now I've replaced the no-name DVD reader with a DVD burner (Pioneer
DVR-111D).
No overt changes were made to the software on either operating system,
but of course
WinXP recognized the new device on bootup.
It works fine under WinXP, and the device icon still shows up as usual
under OS/2

The directory of a CD in the ide DVD burner seems to be readable under
OS/2 but I can't
read files (ie, jpg photo files, txt files, etc)... plus, the operating
system sometimes locks
up when I try to read a file (requires a reboot)... other times it just
tells me it can't open the file.
I could just delete that device icon from OS/2, I guess, but it would be
nicer if it worked.

Now, I do recall that devices need driver statements in config.sys.
Here are the current pertinent statements (I think) and the creation
dates of the files thereon:

BASEDEV=DANIS506.ADD 2/14/03

BASEDEV=DANIDASD.DMD 3/17/00
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\JJSCDROM.DMD 9/11/01
IFS=D:\OS2\BOOT\CDFS.IFS /Q /W 10/12/01
DEVICE=D:\OS2\MDOS\VCDROM.SYS 8/12/96
BASEDEV=DANIATAPI.FLT 1/22/02

Can someone refresh my memory on supporting devices like these, get me
headed in the right direction, and point me at at new required drivers...
or am I just SOL on this new ide Pioneer DVD burner?

Thanks,
Wayne
