And let me amend something. These days you may not even get the "Rescue CD".
Instead you will get a hidden FAT partition on your hard drive with all of the "rescue
software" stored there. So, if your system goes down and you need to reinstall, you
have to implement a procedure to activate the rescue software on the hidden FAT. At
least Dell and HP go this route. With Dell you can pay extra and get the "Rescue CD" in
addition.
