It is really odd that you are having so much trouble resolving this, but
as with everything there must be a reason. In this case, it just not an
obvious reason.

Are you sure you don't have a bad password stored?
One more thing you can try is delete secmod.db. Seamonkey will rebuild it
when you restart. While you are at it, delete xul.mfl and compreg.dat.
