Harry,
> 1. Present set up:
> A. What computers to you presently have that will eventually be connected in the LAN?
Two PCs and 1 HP printer with Ethernet card.
> B. What operating systems does each one use?
eCS (2.0 beta1) and WIN2K. (I can worry about the Windows connection later.)
> C. How is each one of them connected to the Internet
Ethernet card to 4-port Linksys router to "cable Modem."
> D. What protection to you presently use for each (software firewall, hardware firewall)?
Just whatever the Linksys router affords.
> 2. Desired set up:
> A. What type of LAN do you what?
Peer-to-peer, 100 Mbs Ethernet.
> B. The the router that you mentioned will probably serve as a hardware firewall,
> but do you plan to install individual software firewalls on each machine?
If there is an advantage to me I might install software firewalls, but
not until I get everything else going.
> C. What about antivirus and anti-spyware (if you are using PEER-to-PEER you

I have Norman Antivirus running on each machine.
I have a successful LAN giving Internet and printer access to both
computers, I just want to get them to talk to each other. I don't
understand what, if any, changes I must make in TCP/IP configuration
(via TCPCFG2.EXE), and how to get file and print sharing onto the
computers that I did not fully install at installation.
Martin
