My recall may have been off on some details, as it's
been awhile, and the SCSI tower has been awaiting a
complete overhaul for some time now. A quick peek
online suggests the 29160N is not a true dual-channel
design. Also, I'm not sure if that external connector
is a 50-pin or a 68-pin. (I'm still leaning towards
50, though.) IAC, it is the type my SCSI scanner
requires. And I do recall Steve Carter saying
something to the effect that connecting the scanner
would not impact performance of the internally
connected hard drive(s). He might be the best person
to ask.
