I have been trying to install Beta 4 on a system which I want to make my
production system.
Booted from the CD with defaults. I get an error popup titled
Workplace Shell with:
The program pointed to by the SET RUNWORKPLACE= line in CONFIG.SYS, this
file, could not be started. WinStartApp returned %1. [OK] [Cancel]
The CONFIG.SYS on T: contains:
SET RUNWORKPLACE=T:\ECS\INSTALL\GUIDPROC.EXE
T:\ECS\INSTALL\NLS\en\EISTART.GPS T:\ECS\INSTALL
The files are present.
I have also tried with and without ACPI support, using VGA video instead
of SNAP, and without IDE support (since nothing essential is attached
there), with the same error as above.
Additional Information This is a Tyan S2895 Thunder K8WE motherboard
with 2 AMD Opteron 248 processors (2.2 GHz), 2 GiB RAM, BIOS: 3/14/06, V
1.03.2895. Drives are SCSI (LSI Logic U320 1020/1030 chipset): channel
0: 2 X Seagate 373307LW (73 GB), Channel 1: Plextor PX-32TS CD-ROM,
PX-W124TS CD-R, 2 X ST373405LC (73 GB). Nvidia nForce Professional
2200/2050 chipset which provides IDE, SATA, 2 NICs, etc. The video card
is an ATI Radeon X600 Pro 128MB PCI-x.
This system runs just fine under 2.0B3. I did have to do some juggling
of drivers to get B3 to install, although I can't remember just what I did.
For this installation attempt, I am booting the CD from the PX-124TS.
There is nothing on the IDE channel, a Plextor PX-755SA DVD drive on
SATA 0, but not in use for this install attempt.
Any suggestions?
