An update...

I found my problem booting. The BIOS seems to be a bit picky about the
sequence in the boot list. The mobo has 2 LSI 1030 SCSI channels with
the boot drive on the first of them. There are also 2 Plextor CD drives
on the second channel. The IDE channel is empty and I think disabled.
There is also a SATA controller with a Plextor PX-755SA DVD burner.
There is also a diskette drive. If the SATA drive is included, it seems
to get confused. It looks for something for about 5-10 seconds, then
says that it can't find an OS. I currently have the boot order set to:

Floppy
SCSI CDROM
HD

If I include the SATA DVD burner, it won't boot.

Next...

I couldn't get it up on the network. The NIC is an onboard Nforce 4
gigabit (x2). A bit of RTFM on GenMac fixed that and now it is working
online.

Lots of work still ahead.

Thanks for your help. Sorry I missed the meeting today. but it wasn't
possible politically.
