Took another cruise through the cmos settings, looking to see if
there was anything relating to the expansion slots. And looked at
all the other pages and found the problem.
The boot order had changed! So simple, so elementry.
The MB has a problem with the cmos memory and is the reason I am
getting a replacement for it (hope it works better than this one,
both from eBay).
If I power off the powersupply with the switch on the rear I start
losing cmos settings over time. When I pulled the Adaptec and
moved the drives to the Symbios I powered down with the rear
switch. When I powered up I had to set the time, checked some
other settings that sometimes change, but forgot to look at boot
sequence.
So that's the end of the story.
Thanks for all the tips, suggestions, and comments. If only I
could figure out how to retain them in the grey matter.....
Jon
