It appears that I have everything back. I still need to reboot but I'm backing up everything first.
This must be an intermittent whereby after some period of time the drives respond to the signals, be it from the MB, HA, or cabling, or drive
electronic's. I wish I could pin it down.
Chkdsk repaired the filesystem and it's all there. There was a number of reboots involved so whatever intermittent it is can't be solved
merely be waiting for some electron to feel good.
