I am laughing because the block of text at the bottom of the e-mail windows that reads
is, I believe. an error message saying that it did not load properly or will not run in that version of Thunderbird.
When it runs properly it does a few things, but the most important to me is that it allows you to highlight something from a message and then right click in the message, producing a window that gives you a bunch of choices including "quote in reply." Choosing that option opens a Compose window with just the highlighted text quoted, not all of the message text.
