Subject: SCOUG-Help: SCSI help needed

Content Type: text/plain

The 3MB/s transfer rate seems to imply Asynchronous, which, in my limited
experience, is much more reliable with less-than-perfect cabling (i.e.,
what I've got). I'm unsure if both can work on the same bus. It might be
HA dependent. I'm using NCR/Symbios/LSI Ultra160 HAs, not Adaptec. [Once worked
for NCR, and loyalty dies hard.]

Plextor 12/20 Plex PX-20TSi 20X Fast SCSI CD-ROM

Description:
12/20 PLEX12 to 20 Speed P-CAV CD-ROM Drive
The 12/20PleX [is] Plextor's high-performance 12 to 20 Speed SCSI P-CAV
CD-ROM drive, the first CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) drive.
Users are guaranteed a minimum of 12-Speed performance and will experience
up to 20-speed performance.

Up to five times as fast as a "standard" quad speed, the 12/20PleX's transfer
rate of 3MB/s speeds up most CD-ROM related computing tasks. The 12/20PleX also
boasts an average random access time of 95ms. ... Superior management of the
12/20PleX's 512KB buffer further enhances ....
