A clue:
Since changing hardware, and trying to copy with 4OS2's copy command to the new USB drive, I've had two Trap 3's in JFS.
Hopefully this, from the latest trap, will help:
IPE at 0168:fff1da1f-000e:ca1f
CS:EIP 0168:f8c5432c
Reused hardware includes memory, SCSI controller, SCSI cable, and SCSI drive.
