Unfortunately, I don't have an easy solution, but now that real work has
subsided, I've had time to research the problem and have a better
understanding of what might be failing. Take a look at
\OS2\SETDEFV.CMD
There is similar code in Bernd Schemmer's REXX Tips and Tricks. PMView's
makedefv.exe does the same thing with a nice GUI front end.
It is not supposed to matter which file you specify run issuing the
SysSetObjectData(fileName, "CLASSDEFAULTVIEW="view)
command, but apparently there are cases where it does.
If I had this problem, what I would do first is use assoedit to remove all
the associations for JPG file type and for the *.jpg file filter with the
exception of PMView.
