WWW is meaningless, it is just a way to in some cases allow a sub-domain and is
really not needed. If you only have need for a single web site it is not
needed at all. I have my web site set up so it will work with or without the
www.
Some large companies use www1, www2, etc to have more than one web site and the
same domain. IBM for example has a number of different web sites and has web
site URLs as www.ibm.com, www2.ibm.com, etc.
