I've discovered that the following NET USE command on the Windows machines fixes
my problem:

NET USE DEVICE: \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME PASSWORD
/USER:USERID

USERID and PASSWORD are respectively my user ID and password for File and Print
Sharing (FPS) on my ECS machine.

I was previously using the following:

NET USE DEVICE: \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAME

I believe that something changed on my Windows machines, perhaps through the
continual Microsoft updates. I previously tried a fully restored ECS system, using a June
2006 backup. That did not work and I'm pretty sure that I had FPS working correctly
back then. So, ..., I'm not 100% sure of what happened, but I suspect that it was
Windows.
