At the SCOUG Help desk, I also asked about running a "virtual" server.
Rather than use Speakeasy's "virtual server", I was referred to Godaddy
for cost effective rates with much software.
Under the Linux 'Build Your Own Virtual Server' at GoDaddy Step 4 Choose
Control Panel, should I choose Simple Control Panel Unlimited $0 or Plesk
Control Panel 30 Domains $4.99 or cPanel Unlimited $9.99 option?
The second option Plesk Control Panel allows a base vs Deluxe vs Pro
option. The base has no other software; the Deluxe has SpamAssasin,
Tomcat, and Application Pack w/ Mambo Content Management System (CMS)
while the Pro has the Deluxe and PostgreSQL, Event Manager, Support
Ticketing System, 1 Language Pack and Game Hosting.
I plan to host at least two domains, possibly three. The number of
domains equals the number of unique web sites. Run at least 2 mailing
lists possibly 5 mailing lists - be able to moderate the lists - ie able
to have the option of not letting someone to post unless I have cleared
the post, screen those who wish to subscribe to the list.
If someone can please help me choose which Control Panel I would
appreciate. Those that were at the SCOUG Help Desk can chime in. Thanks.
Larry
