Anybody know the proper options for Kai Uwe Rommel's daytime.exe
when used with 0.us.pool.ntp.org? All of the following give me
a 10013 error:
daytime 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -d 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -d -u 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -t 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -t -u 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -s 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -s -u 0.us.pool.ntp.org
daytime -u 0.us.pool.ntp.org
(Copy & paste the above block to a command line to see the
errors.)
I googled on "tcpip 10013" and the error seems to be wrong port
or somesuch.
Daytime.exe without parameters works just fine with other ntp
servers such as clock.psu.edu.
Here are the daytime.exe command line parameters:
[G:\]daytime
Set time from remote host, $Revision: 1.17 $
(C) 1997 Kai-Uwe Rommel
Usage: daytime [-l file] [-ndtsu] [-m secs] [-c int] [-p port] host
-l file write messages to logfile
-c int run continuously, perform action every 'int' seconds
-n do not set the local clock, display the remote time only
-o offs adjust the retrieved time by offs seconds before
setting the local clock
-m secs maximum number of seconds to adjust by
-w secs maximum number of seconds to wait for the time server's answer
-d use the DAYTIME service (port 13)
-t use the TIME service (port 37, this is the default)
-s use the SNTP service (port 123), usually requires -u too
-u use the UDP protocol (default is to use TCP)
-p port use nonstandard port number
-x use serial modem to access time server
(in this case, the 'host' is the phone number to dial
and 'port' is the number of the serial port)
If anyone is curious, the above round robin ntp servers are from
http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/WebHome
-> NTP Pool Servers http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers
-> http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/north-america
-> United States http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/us
