Ray, you may recall that I always use the installer
pkg. But let's not rehash that old argument . . . .

Some limited progress to report, though I can't really
claim any credit for it, since I didn't do anything to
get there. This morning, SM gave me access to Edit
--> Preferences, its Profile Mgr. ran, and I created a
new "Test" Profile. (But I bet that if I open Moz
1.7.12, it will be a quick trip back to Gridlock
City.) My thought is that the main, shared profile is
still fundamentally compromised in various places.
I'd still like to know just where, and to repair it,
as well as how to clone selected parts of it into new
or replacement profiles.
In regard to the fresh Test profile, I was a bit
surprised to see that several Plugins appeared there
by default. But Flash was not among them.
I'm also a bit confused to see today's VoiceNews item
on the release of SM 1.08, seeing as the one I
installed was 1.11.
