You can indeed have two mice.
I've had both the trackpoint and an optical mouse on my TP660E.
Don't believe the internal trackpoint is PS/2. [I do have an external
IBM trackpoint kinda mouse, but it's too weird for me.]
I needed a PS/2 splitter to have both an external keyboard and
a mouse on my TP660E. That's my setup for traveling in the
motorhome. [Keyboard is too bulky for casual laptop use,
but lives permanently in the MH with an optical mouse.]
