Subject: SCOUG-Help: Using WarpIn to install MR2ICE 3.00 beta

Hi,

>Larry suggested treating the 3.00 beta as a beta. What did he mean?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking what the word beta
means?

>I
>have copied my MR2ICE folder to a backup folder on another drive. Is
>there something else I should do?

That's good enough. You just want to be sure you can restore your working
2.67 if anything goes wrong.

>Why do I need to make a backup folder?

What will you do if 3.00 does not work for you?

>understand it will uninstall 3.00 and reinstall 2.67. Did I misinterpret
>something?

Sorta. A WarpIN uninstall does exactly what the word implies. It
uninstalls the application. To get back to 2.67, you need to reinstall it
yourself.

>Will WarpIn change the sub-folders Attached, Filters, mail, F001, etc. in
>my MR2ICE folder?

It's not supposed to. Note that all of this is configurable in the WarpIN
install script. WarpIN by itself does nothing. What you are really
asking is will the MR/2 ICE WarpIN install disturb your existing data.
The answer is the default install will not.

>Will Warpin update only program files in my MR2ICE folder ?

No, but that's not really the question you want to ask. You want to ask
will the install overwrite any of your customizations and the answer is
that the default install will not disturb them.

The install updates all the base files. This include the excutables and
the .org and .ccc files and a couple of others.

>I ask
>because that file also contains many xx.bod, xx.hed, and xx.txt files.

FWIW, the xx.bod and xx.hed files are probably garbage files you created
some when. They are not created by mr/2 ice.

>With respect to WarpIn itself. I installed it on my C partition which
>has 257mb free. Is the archive going to grow to a monstrous file?

What archive? There is no archive to grow. WarpIN keeps a database of
installed apps and a logfile of the install history. The database is
small. You can delete the logfile if it gets too large for comfort.

Regards,

Steven
