It is working now.

I thought I was using wired (cat 5) connection, but it turns out I am using
wireless. (During startup I got some kind of error message regarding lan0).

Now I have removed the cat 5 lan cable, and I no longer get the lan0 error
message, and XSession starts up just fine.

I didn't realize that the internet connection would have any bearing on running
Hoblink!

Now I will try installing Gimp.

(I will try and get this message out -- I am not having trouble receiving
messages, but outgoing mail seems to be blocked)

Thanks,
Sandy
