Don't use PM to create BM. Use DFSee or LVM from an eCS installation CD.
It DOES get a primary partition, but of type 0a, NOT 0E. BM should go at
the beginning or end of a drive so as not to fragment the free space
used for the logical volume container. It takes one cylinder so that the
other partitions can start on cylinder boundaries.

Google is also your friend. You may want to do some additional research
on LVM and BM.
