I don't really see any reason to install OS/2 to a primary.

It's really a preference issue. I prefer reiser to ext3.

Rule one of partitioning tools is don't mix and match. Rule two is use
that's compatible with everything you want to install. Lvm.exe is OK,
although I prefer dfsee.

What's the benefit of this is you can do what you want without starting
over.
