I guess the concept of nothing is philosophical. When I click on the
object for A: a window opens with the contents of A:. When I click on
the object for B:, the object turns darker to indicate that it was
chosen, but nothing opens. When I right click on the object for B: and
click on Properties, no window opens ("nothing" happens, if that is
logically possible).

There is no function in the BIOS to show if a floppy actually is present
as there is for a harddisk. The BIOS only allows you to state what
floppy is present or not.

IF I tell BIOS that A: is present, but unplug it, I get a BIOS generated
error when booting. If a tell BIOS that B: is present but unplug it,
there is no error while booting.
