Not exactly. The trick is to set up the printer as an "emulated Postscipt" (PS) printer
under Windows XP, then share it from Windows and finally access it from OS/2-eCS as
a Postscript printer. The steps are as follows:
1. Establish the printer as a functioning (i.e., working) printer under
Windows XP
2. Install postscript and redirection software under Windows XP, using
Ghostscript, GSview and RedMon
3. Create a "Emulated Postscript" (EPS) printer under Windows XP, using
the "Printers and Faxes" facility from the Windows "Control Panel" facility.
4. You then share the EPS printer from Windows XP
5. Finally you access the shared printer from OS/2 (eCS), using an OS/2
Postscript printer driver. Use the latest Postscript drivers from IBM (pscripten.exe). You
may have to add your own Postscript Printer Definition (PPD) file for you EPS printer.
The IBM Postscript drivers have a new feature, allowing you to do that.
All of this information is in the July 16, 2003 OS2ezine magazine. More specifically, it's
on the following two (2) websites.
http://www.os2ezine.com/20030716/page_3.html
http://iharder.sourceforge.net/current/macosx/winmacprinter/
I downloaded a copy of those two (2) websites to my hard drive, so that I'll always have
the information (guarding against later removal of one or both websites).
I plan to use this setup to access and share an HP 7130 printer. I'll have all of the
required files and information. I just have not gotten around to it yet!
