Martin,
It sounds very much to me like a heat problem. I had the same symptom on my
daughter's (Windose) computer about 2 years ago. She keeps her computer in a very
confined space and I had just completed a motherboard, CPU and hard drive update
on her system. Then, when I tried to back her system up, using Acronis True Image, I
could only get so far. The system would abruptly stop and shut off. The shutdown
occurred in exactly the same spot every time. At the time it was summer and the heat
was pretty oppressive. I had to install more fans on the motherboard and a much better
CPU fan.
I doubt if your problem is a trap, caused by the loading of the snap driver, for example.
Based on my understanding, traps usually produce system reboots, not shutdowns.
