I tell everyone that sends me email to make sure they send me text only or if 
they have a problem with doing text only they must include a text version.  The 
email clients I know of can switch to HTML mode with a mouse click, I almost 
never switch to HTML mode (I can not remember the last time I did).

The world has not changed, at least as I see it, most senders don't know you 
can do anything else.  They use the computer the way MS configured it and 
haven't a clue you can do it differently.

If you default to opening email in HTML I am sure you do although most will 
fail to execute some may partially work and cause problems.
